Maritime transport plays a vital role in the economics of the world. Meantime, a high level of safety and efficiency in this industry is vital. The considerable influence that manpower has on efficient and economic operation of shipping when you can not be overlooked. The two basic components which make up an efficient merchant fleet are the ships themselves and the personnel who man, manage and operate them, and ensure their safety, seaworthiness and economics. It is well known that ships can be acquired, provided that prospective owners can arrange the finances. However, trained and qualified maritime personnel, can not just be picked off the peg. It is here that specialized. institutions play their role to provide quality maritime education and training including appropriate facilities for all categories of sea-going personnel including ratings.
