Aids To Navigation & Compass

The objective of this course to possess knowledge of the basic theory of Electronic Navigation Systems and magnetism and magnetic compasses. Learners will be familiar with the practical use of magnetic and gyrocompasses and automatic pilots, their routine maintenance and the limitations of the instruments. Emphasis is placed on a knowledge of instrument errors, to allow for such errors, the importance of frequent checking and the ways of doing it.
