The course is designed to develop student’s proficiency in reading advanced technical maritime English texts. The materials selected stress such micro skills as deducing the meaning and use unfamiliar lexical items through understanding word formation and contextual clues, understanding relation within the sentence and understanding relations between parts of text through cohesive devices. Comprehension exercises are supplemented by written exercises.
