Maritime English is based on a clearly defined entry standard in general English, deals with maritime terminology and the use of English for the purposes of using charts and other nautical publications, understanding meteorological information and communicating with other ships or coast stations concerning ship’s safety and operation, including the use of the IMO Standard Marine Communication phrases.
The course also includes the vocabulary needed to make use of and understand manufacturers’ technical manuals and specifications to converse with technical shore staff concerning ship and machinery repairs.
