Theory of tides and tidal factors, evaluation of the height of tide in the main standard and secondary ports, problems of grounding, passing over shoals and under bridges. choosing the route, clearance from coast line, ship’s routing and traffic separation schemes, under keel clearance, times of arrival and departure, passage chart, large scale charts, method of fixing, keeping clear of dangers, tidal stream and current, ice way effect, the record, altering course, entering shallow water, passages in fog and thick weather, navigation in coral regions, anchorage and mooring, navigation in canals and narrow channels.
