Course Description
The objective of this course to be familiar with collision regulation convention (COLREG) and the maneuvering information available onboard ship with particular reference to turning circles and stopping distance and how they are affected by shallow water and the draught and trim of the ship. They will know the procedures and actions to take and the maneuvers required for the rescue of a man overboard , and have sufficient knowledge of the Morse code and correct techniques to enable them to transmit and receive the distress signal ‘SOS’ and single-letter signals by Morse light. In addition, they will know the flags of the International Code of Signals, the significance of the single-letter signs, and how to use that publication.
