Description

The Electrical Technical Officer's Certificate of Competency (ETO CoC) is the latest officer-level qualification, introduced by the recent 2010 Manila Amendments to the STCW Convention (Regulation III/6). This prestigious, globally recognized qualification qualifies professionals to serve as Electrical Technical Officers on seagoing vessels.

As specialists in shipboard electrical, electronic, and automation systems, Electrical Technical Officers (ETOs) are essential to the safe and efficient operation of modern vessels.

This certification reflects advanced technical competence, practical training, and certified seagoing service, opening up vast prospects for dynamic and highly sought-after seagoing careers.

The Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) Certificate of Competency course is designed for those serving on ships powered by main propulsion machinery of 750 kW or more. This program equips future Electro-Technical Officers with the professional competencies required to manage advanced marine electrical and electronic systems, in accordance with international maritime standards, and is aligned with STCW Regulation A-III/6 and IMO Model Course 7.08.

Here's a summary of the key objectives:

• Operate and Maintain Shipboard Electrical Power Systems.
• Maintain and Troubleshoot Electronic and Automation Systems.
• Support Safe Operation of Communication and Navigation Equipment.
• Apply Core Electrical and Electronic Knowledge.
• Implement Safety Procedures in Electrical Work.
• Carry Out Fault Diagnosis and Repair.
• Comply with International Maritime Requirements, including STCW, SOLAS, and MARPOL.

• General Secondary School Certificate (scientific, industrial) or equivalent, (must be endorsed by Jordan Embassy of your country & Ministry of Education at Jordan).

• Basic Studies Certificate issued by an educational institution accredited by the Jordan Maritime Commission.
OR
Certificate of Bachelor`s degree in Electrical engineering issued by an educational institution accredited by the Jordan Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and approved by the Jordan Maritime Commission.

• Certificate of sea service from the company (a minimum of 12 months after obtaining the certificate basic studies; or a minimum of 6 months after obtaining the bachelor’s degree) on ships of 750 KW or more.

• Copy of seaman book / seaman passport (showing the required maritime service).

• Copy of passport with statement of movements (stamps).

• On Board Training Record Book.

• Individuals who have completed a basic studies program at an approved maritime education institution and have acquired at least twelve months of guided sea training on ships with a propulsion power of 750 kW or more.

Or

• Individuals holding a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of six months of guided sea training on ships with a propulsion power of 750 kW or more.

• Apply for the mentioned program through Admission Portal (use the registration button)

• Follow the admission steps as needed and linked email.

• JAMS admission and Registration department will review the submitted documents.

• Once accepting the application, you will receive an acceptance email including student details such as; Academic number, platform username, and password, student’s portal username, and password.

• Enter the platform and watch any recorded lectures as well as other activities.

• Attendance is mandatory for all classes. In certain approved exceptions, the Head of Department may permit absences not exceeding 20% of the total lectures for each course. Attendance rules are applied in accordance with the JAMS Student Guide.

• Passing the Marlins English Test with a minimum score of 60% is a prerequisite for graduation. The test results are valid for 24 months.

• Fees can be settled via bank transfer, eFAWATEERcom service, direct cash payment, or any other approved payment method, in accordance with the JAMS Finance Department's requirements.

• Student fees must be fully paid (100%) before the start of the program.

• All the aforementioned fees do not include the fees for document approval, fees for external parties such as Jordan Maritime Commission (JMC), and any other fees or expenses unless they are mentioned in the above fees clause.

• Student/ entity shall bear the bank transfer fees or any fees or expenses that may arise as a result of joining this program.

 

For all distance learning and blended learning models, attendees are required to ensure the following are available and actively in use:

·         An electronic device (such as a laptop, PC, iPad, tablet, or smartphone) that supports and is connected to the internet.

·         A stable internet connection (4G or fiber optics is recommended).

·         A microphone, speakers, camera, keyboard, and any other necessary communication tools. The use of both microphone and camera is mandatory.

·         Logging into the educational platform before the scheduled time.

·         Following the guidance and detailed steps for using JAMS platforms and portals.

Accommodation is optional at JAMS apartments in a single room or double room.

• All fees are due and payable once the technical and financial offer/ proposal (email) is approved/ accepted.

• All fees are due and payable before the start date of the program.

• All payments and fees are non-refundable.
