Overview
From the very beginning of Jordan Academy for Maritime Studies establishment in January 2005, the Marine Engineering Dept. was also established as one of the main educational departments.
The department started receiving students in basic studies as well as marine engineers of all ranks for upgrading studies, both studies end up with a certificate of competency issued by Jordan Maritime Commission.
The Department is very keen to continual development of curricula to empty with STCW 1978 Convention as amended besides IMO Model Courses along with developing teaching aids which include highly equipped lecture rooms, engineering workshop, technical and engineering labs, integrated engineering and navigational simulators, the outcome of which is highly qualified graduates to work on commercial vessels.
All lecturers in the department are either chief marine engineers or university academics with MSc or PHD who are being always developed through training and exposure to keep up with latest developments in their fields.
We are also in the Department making utmost efforts to create an educational environment that helps maximize our outputs.
To cope with the corona pandemic, the Dept. has switched to e-learning, synchronies as well as asynchronous and blended learning keeping in mind all the time the Academy’s commitment to all standards and requirements of education to maintain the high quality of its outputs.

I have pleasure to welcome you to Marine Engineering Dept where we make our utmost efforts and experiences to achieve our set goals represented in highly qualified and highly skilled graduates.
In the Dept. we prepare our graduates to obtain certificates of competency of all ranks I,e engineering on watch officer (third engineer, second engineer, chief engineer) to work in engine rooms and maintenance on commercial vessels.
Up till now, about 1.500 students have graduated from the Department of different Arab and foreign nationalities and of all ranks. We indeed pride ourselves with our graduates who have gained a good reputation all over the world as we are told by their employers and by the feedback which we insist on receiving from them.
