Acting Saudi Cultural Attaché Visits Jordan Academy for Maritime Studies to Explore Maritime Education and Training Cooperation
Amman, Jordan – Jordan Academy for Maritime Studies (JAMS) welcomed H.E. Prof. Dr. Mohammed bin Khuzaym Al-Shammari, Acting Saudi Cultural Attaché to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, for an introductory institutional visit aimed at exploring JAMS’ academic and training capabilities, local and international accreditations, specialized facilities, and potential areas of cooperation in maritime education, training, and human capital development.
During the visit, JAMS delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting its 23-year journey in maritime education and training and its experience in educating and training individuals from more than 75 Arab and international nationalities across its various programs.
The presentation also highlighted JAMS’ experience in developing qualified maritime professionals and supporting the development of competent seafarers holding Jordanian maritime Certificates of Competency and proficiency qualifications recognized locally and internationally.
H.E. Prof. Dr. Al-Shammari toured the Academy’s specialized facilities, including its maritime simulators, engineering workshops, educational and training facilities, and comprehensive services provided to students and trainees. He expressed his pleasure in learning more about JAMS and the distinguished academic and training standards achieved by the Academy.
The discussions also highlighted JAMS’ longstanding contribution to the Saudi maritime sector, with qualified maritime professionals educated and trained at the Academy having gone on to serve Saudi organizations and contribute their knowledge, skills, and professional capabilities to the Kingdom’s maritime workforce.
The meeting explored opportunities for further institutional cooperation in maritime education, professional training, capacity building, and human capital development, supporting the evolving requirements of the maritime industry and complementing the ambitions of Saudi Vision 2030, particularly in national capability development and workforce localization.
Over more than two decades, JAMS has earned the confidence of maritime organizations across the Arab region and internationally, with institutions selecting the Academy to provide specialized education and training for their personnel. This accumulated experience reinforces JAMS’ position as a regional maritime center of expertise, capable of delivering high-quality maritime training and professional development solutions within a geographically and culturally accessible Arab environment.
Jordan Academy for Maritime Studies emphasized that the longstanding and strategic relationship between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia provides a strong foundation for expanding institutional cooperation and developing high-value partnerships focused on knowledge, professional capabilities, and human capital development.
The visit reflects a shared understanding of the importance of maritime human capital development in building a more competitive and sustainable maritime sector and supporting Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and the wider Arab region with qualified professionals capable of meeting the evolving needs of the global maritime industry.
