Memorandum of Understanding Signed Between Jordan Academy for Maritime Studies and the Ministry of Transport – Jordan to Establish a Quality Management System

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional cooperation between the public and private sectors, Jordan Academy for Maritime Studies (JAMS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Jordanian Ministry of Transport. The agreement aims to develop and implement a Quality Management System (QMS) in the Ministry based on ISO 9001:2015 international standards, through specialized consulting and training services provided by the Academy.

Official Signing Ceremony Attended by Senior Officials

The MoU was formally signed by H.E. Minister of Transport Eng. Wissam Al-Tahtamouni and Prof. Mustafa Massad, President of the Academy, in the presence of Mr. Fares Abu Diya, Secretary General of the Ministry, Dr. Hanan Al-Turk, Head of the Quality Unit at the Ministry, Dr. Maen Massad, Manager of Quality Management and Business Development Center from the Academy, and several senior staff members from both parties.

Objectives of the MoU

The partnership focuses on:

Establishing a comprehensive Quality Management System at the Ministry.

Training Ministry personnel on ISO 9001 standards and implementation.

Developing procedures, forms, and performance indicators.

Conducting internal audits and ensuring system effectiveness.

Supporting external audit readiness for ISO certification.

A Shared Commitment to Excellence and Quality

Minister Al-Tahtamouni emphasized the importance of this initiative in enhancing institutional performance and service quality at the Ministry. She praised the Jordan Academy for Maritime Studies as a pioneer in maritime education in Jordan, known for its distinguished regional and international reputation and tangible achievements in the field.

Prof. Dr. Massad expressed the Academy’s pride in this strategic partnership, reaffirming its commitment to providing technical and academic support to both the Jordanian and international maritime sectors. He highlighted that graduates of the Academy—representing more than 66 nationalities—hold Jordanian maritime certificates and now occupy leadership roles across various maritime organizations worldwide.
